Open Up to Mouth Cancer is a research-based campaign.
Our strategy is driven by both quantitative and qualitative research.
We test our public communication materials in focus groups and produce professional resources in consultation with relevant specialists.
Quantitative research
Cancer Research UK commissioned the British Market Research Bureau (BMRB) to carry out a mouth cancer awareness survey in 2005. The survey was designed to measure:
- Awareness of mouth cancer, its risk factors and its symptoms
- Prevalence of risky behaviours such as smoking and drinking alcohol
